I struggle with Hydrangeas. Any suggestions?
Knockout Roses are super easy and so pretty.
I would love to have a Peony or two. Any suggestions for those?

Garden 2011

And so our garden begins...
A little dark on this one but these are our tomato plants and peppers to the side.

 Onions
Squash and cucumbers...

We also ended up with a cantoloupe. Not sure how that happened. Neither one of us eat Cantoloupe but maybe we will begin to like it. My great-grandfather loves cantoloupe. Maybe I can just give it to him if it grows. I remember he used to eat cantoloupe all the time but my biggest memory was when we would be eating breakfast at their house. My great-grandmother and grandfather made the best gravy and biscuits and dip eggs as I called them then (fried eggs). Sorry just taking a walk down memory lane. I sure do miss those days. My g-grandmother fell this past Sunday and broke her leg where she has already had a hip replacement putting her in the hospital for emergency surgery. She is still not doing real good and it makes me very sad. I have been taking trips down memory lane a lot this week. I am blessed to still have my great-grandparents. As they are in their mid 90's. I have some wonderful memories of them and I will always treasure those.
So far we have planted: Tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, poblano peppers, cucumbers, squash, one zucchini, watermelon, cantoloupe, cilantro, and basil.

What are you planting this year? I have never been successful with watermelon any suggestions?

The cilantro did not survive last year and I have never tried basil. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

A Suprise...

I came home last week to find our new pet. Caleb had brought home the cutest kitten. While he is the cutest little thing the reason that we did not have a cat before is because I am extremely allergic to them. Caleb insisted that the man ask him to bring it home and maybe he could find someone to give it too. Caleb thought he would just be able to find someone to give it to with no problem. However, what I saw was that Caleb really liked this little guy and no matter how much he said he didn't he really wanted to keep it. So.... meet our new family pet Tigger as Caleb calls him.

Yahoola Creek Grill

We recently tried Yahoola Creek in Dahlonega, GA we have been stuck on Dahlonega lately. We have wanted to try this restaurant for over a year but just never did. Well we decided why not so we went on a Saturday afternoon and loved it! Caleb got to eat like Snoop Dogg - Chicken and Waffles. It was delicious!!! I thought it was too weird for me but anything with sausage gravy must be good. :)
I had the shrimp and grits. I have been craving it since Charleston and while I must say it did not live up to Amen Street it was still very good! By the way the people next to us got the chicken tenders and although that is very simple it looked so good! Going back to the beginning we had an amazing appetizer of Fried Green Tomato Stack with Goat Cheese. If you are in Dahlonega this is a GREAT place to try!

Not the best pictures since I took them with my phone but you cannot review food without a picture. :)

I love small independently owned stores and restaurants. I want to see these businesses thrive. I would hope that if I were in business someone would help spread the word for me.

Have you tried anywhere new recently?

The Porterhouse Dahlonega, GA

We ate at the Porterhouse again for Mother's Day and it was fabulous! Dahlonega has a beautiful square with lots of good restaurants and good shopping too! They are always having something whether it be Christmas with the lights or Gold Rush or even a movie under the stars in the summer. You are sure to find something to do. I wish that all towns took such pride in their square!

Now to the food! I ordered the Bourban Steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. This comes with a salad served family style and bread. I took a picture of all the different selections. If you ever visit Dahlonega make sure Porterhouse is on your list of places to eat. Oh and don't forget dessert! We had the brownie with icecream and oh my goodness it was delicious!!!

Bourban Steak this was the smaller portion and still too much for me. :)
Cajun Pasta
I will be trying this next time!
My lighting was bad in this one but it is crab stuffed trout.
Our yummy dessert!
Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful mother!
And I just had to include one of me and the best hubby I could ever ask for!

Have you ate at any good restaurants lately? I always like a good recommendation! :)

Silhouette

We decided to make another gift using our Silhouette so we found a cute jar at WalMart and made a plan.
The person we are making a gift for is really difficult to buy for so we decided on something that could be used and displayed in the kitchen. I hope the recipient liked it. I think it turned out really cute!

What have you made lately? I would love to see and get more ideas!

Sad...

I just found out earlier this week that the place Caleb and I went on our honeymoon is no longer owned by the same group. We went to Dunn's River Sandals Resort and it was amazing!!! We had always thought that for one of our big anniversaries we would go back but now that is not an option. There are plenty of other Sandals Resorts but I guess it was just finding out kinda made me a little sad. Dunn's River was one of the smaller resorts and it was very personalized with top notch service. We were so spoiled while we were there! I have never been to another Sandals resort but if they are all like that one I would highly recommend it! Especially for an anniversary or honeymoon!!! You will be pampered and never want to leave. These are all inclusive resorts so we could eat whenever we wanted and that food was delicious! Even the little grill out by the beach was great with their jerk chicken yum! So that was my sad news for the week so I will share a little of our honeymoon here just for a step back in time.

Our first sight of Jamaica from the air!
We were so glad to finally get there!
We were greeted by these little displays every night.
 The beach
I normally do not include pictures of us but this was such a fun night with so much food at our beach party!
You cannot go to Jamaica without visiting a Margavitaville!
 Our pool at the resort.
 Another view of the beach.
On one of the boat rides that you could go out on.

This was the view from our window! Beautiful!

Have you ever been to a Sandals Resort? Or any all inclusive resort?
I have never been to another all inclusive resort so give us some suggestions for the future! :)
